Card Sketch Challenge

I liked this sketch so much I thought I'd share it with the very few followers that I have. haha.

Here is my card:

I have been having some trouble getting my mojo going when it comes to cards. With mothers day around the corner I needed some motivation so I went to the card sketch for the day. I really like this sketch and could see it being very useable!!

I used Afternoon Tea Stampin' Up! dsp which is retired (r) now, groovy guava (r), soft sky (r) and bazzil bling chocolate brown. The brown grossgrain is from SU! but the cream organdy is from Hobby Lobby. I cut the border out with my silhouette in wild wasabi (r). There is some wild wasabi in the designer paper that is hard to see in the picture. I paper pieced the flower from Embrace Life with a pice of the DSP. The sentiment is from the hostess set Best Yet also retired.

I think its pretty obvious that I need to place an order and get some current products! hah.

There was a VSN mini this past weekend on Splitcoast. These are a few of the projects that I did for it.

THIS challenge was to use the technique Burned Batik. The background is stamped and embossed but heated a little extra long to give it a 'burned' look to it. I then used ink to make the butterflies pop. The main image is inked up then I took a chocolate chip marker and 'thumped' along the edges. I love the look it gave.

This challenge was to make a Hope Chest. I made the two pocket purse. Turned out really cute IMO.

This is a bag topper for THIS challenge. The letter is supposed to be an "L" for 'love' but it doesn't look much like an L does it? But it is. :)

This is for THIS challenge, I chose to make the diaper fold pouch. The image and words are from Unity Stamp Company and the paper and chipboard scallop is from Stampin Up!

This card was for THIS challenge to use something old, something borrowed (or given to me), something new and something blue. The blue is in the paper and the earth is colored blue. The old is the black ring that I cut out a while back while cutting something else out, the something borrowed (or given to me) was the background flower print paper and the something new is the stamp set used Eco Chic by Unity Stamp Company.

This is for my dads business Christmas cards. They turned out beautifully. I used brown craft ink and then heat and stick powder for the trees. You can't really see the glitter but it's there and they really shine. I stamped off the image twice before stamping it inside for a shadow effect.

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer!

I put a TON of work and time into this little card and just absolutetly love it! This is a shaker card using THIS tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers. I used Old Olive as the card base even though you can't see it. Night of Navy is used for the background, I stamped the snow from itty bitty backgrounds in whisper white craft ink for that.

For the inside:

The trees are cut out with quickutz in old olive and a green from bazzil that I'm not sure of the name. Rudolph is also cut out from quickutz and is in creamy caramel, a dark brown from bazzil and real red. The tail of rudolph is another dear head but just the ear. The 'snow' or glitter has kinda stayed stuck to his eyes. :( I'm a little disappointed in that but it doesn't take away from the card much. I used stickles for the ornaments on the tree and Snow Tex for the snow on the trees. The star is cut out using my cricut in So Saffron then I used stickles on it as well. The front tree is popped up with dimensionals.

Santa:

All of the parts here are also cut from quickutz. The two browns used for the sleigh was Close to Cocoa and a light brown that I don't know the color. My friend let me have some of it for contrast. Santa is cut out in three colors, Blush Blossom, Whisper White and Real Red. Then cut apart and pieced together. I used stickles on him as well. The reigns is black embroider thread.

The reindeer:

Are cut out with quickutz and used the same brown as the sleigh. I colored in their noses and hooves with a black marker.

This is the first new set I had gotten in quite a while. I absolutetly love this set and can see it being very useful!!

This was for a card sketch HERE on Splitcoast Stampers.

I used really rust for the card base and more mustard for the layer. I distressed it with a stickle brush and several colors of ink. I did a lot of edge distressing on the whold card and inked with chocolate chip. the 3 layers are all framed with chocolate chip and a piece of the dsp autumn vine. I stamped the tree in chocolate chip and the leaves in more mustard, close to cocoa and ruby red. I then stamped the middle leaf with more mustard, cut it out and popped them up around the tree.

So I know it's a little early but I have had this set for a couple of months now and FINALLY inked it up!

The image from Stampin' Up! Cruisin' Christmas was stamped with Stazon on watercolor paper. I watercolored using my SU! markers and aqua painters. I used a wide variety of colors. The green paper is Old Olive and the red, which I ran through my crimper, is Ruby Red. The image is framed with Night of Navy. The green fiber is a fiber from Michaels.

Even though the coloring took a while, the card itself is fairly simple. :)

NSR: Always on my mind

It's been a very emotional couple of weeks. My Grandmother passed away last week. It has been very hard on everyone. She was 94 and died very peacefully and she lived a very long happy life that we are thankful to have had her around as long as we did. She is now happy in Heaven with my Grandfather and her baby that passed at 6 months old that she hasn't held in over 60 years.

I will always miss Grandmother. She truely was one of the best and smartest people I ever knew!

I will post some recent project tomorrow. I promise!

Faux Thanks?

Hahah.. OK so I would never send a fake thank you out to anyone, but this technique is faux embossing! This was for this challenge on Splitcoast.

The technique wasn't hard at all! It has a great effect on the card and it makes the card look very elegant!

I used Rose red for the card base and a 1 1/2" strip put through my crimper. The 5/8" grossgrain ribbon is also rose red. The next layer is pink pirouette and it is only slightly smaller than a card front. Then the basic gray and baja breeze for the main image. I then covered the corner with prima flowers and silver brads.

This challenge was to use inchies which is a square inch of something, stamped, drawn, whatever you choose. The pumpkins from Year after Year are an inch square. The cardbase is Tangerine Tango, the 'film strip' is chocolate chip and the green is Kiwi Kiss. I colored the pumpkins with Tangerine Tango, punched them out randomly and used clear stickles for a little bit of glitter. The ribbon is 5/8" chocolate chip grossgrain and the 'Thanks' is rub on.

3 of my favorite things!

A friend of mine sent me this stamp set and I love this image! I drew in the wall and floor and colored those in. This is for the VSN challenge Pride & Prejudice. P&P is my favorite book, hands down. I chose this image because she is reading a book drinking a cuppa joe and I can see doing that while reading. I created the background myself. The challenge was to use felt of some sort. The flowers are felt.

My mom and I spent the past 2 days organizing my stamp room. We hit the MOTHER LOAD of storage items from a store that was closing down the road. :)

My stamp storage and alterables storage, this is one of the shelves we got from the store. It was a nasty dark green and we painted it white.

This shelf was another find from the store. It's got a little bit of everything.

This magazine rack was also another find. I'm using it for my paper towels and all my On Stage and other SU! publications.

This acrylic rack was another find from the store. As you can see it's just got all my general stuff and I love how its laid out so that I can see everything.

I put my water color pencils in the white cup and my regular colored pencils in the brown cup. I like them at my fingertips like that. :) You can kinda see my embossing gun hanging on the shelves on the left. I screwed in hooks for some things.

Here is all my business materials. The paper sorter was another find at the store. They were in great shape and just needed a little cleaning.

This is the next big thing we found. It's a card display. I haven't put my cards in there yet but plan to do that tomorrow. I'm beat tonight!

We did some research online and what we got for a very small amount of money could have cost 5 times that if bought new!!!!

Scrapbook page!

I went to a scrap yesterday and learned a lot about scrapbooking. I am looking forward to learning more about it. I have very limited experience with scrapbooking.

OK starting out with the whole page. The green cardstock is a piece of Bazzill shimmer cardstock. I don't know much about Bazzill but I loved the texture and sheen on it which is why I chose this. The striped paper is from Stampin' Up's Afternoon Tea Designer series paper. I matted it with Soft Sky and matted the picture with Groovy Guava. All of those Stampin' Up papers are retired now, sadly. On the left side is a rub on from SU! the chipboard "snow flakes" which are actually flowers are from SU! as well, and is also retired. The buttons are from my LSS and are just random buttons. The brown swirl is stitching as well as the swirls on the right hand.

More detail below.

These swirls are all hand stitched using a stencil from Bazzill. I REALLY enjoy the stitching! It also adds serious dimension to the page!

I covered the 'stars' with white craft ink and embossed with a snow white sparkle embossing powder. They turned out beautiful imo.

I wanted to make an insert for my window bag that would fit. This is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2. I decided to do a scrapbook page that I can add to a 12x12 page at some point. This picture was taken at Wrigley Field. I used Summer Days scrapbook pack from Stampin up. All of the pieces are from that kit. Colors included are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White. I added some Stickles to give a little shimmer. :)

This watercolored with markers, pastels and aqua painters. I did spend a good amount of time on the coloring itself. I used crystal effects on the lemon and the ice cubes. I used a variety of colors.

I used the rest of my Illuminations to make a set. This is done exactly the same way as the post below just with different colors.

I embossed on papertrey white paper with my largest scalloped nestibilities using my cuttlebug. I then stamped the image with So Saffron, Brilliant Blue, and Lovely Lilac craft ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I watercolored it in with those colors and Always Artichoke.

There is always Hope

I made this card for a friend of mine going through a rough time. I embossed on papertrey white paper with my largest scalloped nestibilities using my cuttlebug. I then stamped the image with Rose Red craft ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I watercolored it in with Rose Red, Regal Rose and Always Artichoke. I really love to watercolor and feel this turned out simple yet classy. I think there needs to be some shimmer somewhere but I don't know where yet. If I had the pretties kit I would add a pearl somewhere. Just a thought. :)

Shower door prize

I made this set for my sisters lingerie shower as a door prize for one of the games we played.

Included is a set of 12 cards, a matching pen and mini post-it note keychain. I made the matching bag for it as well.

I used the stamp set For a Friend and made 2 cards with each stamp which gave the winner a great variety. I used Papertrey Ink white paper and ran it through my cuttlebug and nestibilities. Then I ran the patterned paper from Afternoon Tea to make a rectangle smaller. After that I ran whisper white through on a smaller rectangle and stamped it with stazon. I did use a little bit of stickles to give some sparkle.

Pretty simple but just enough. :)

I know it's late tonight (hence all the spelling errors I had to come fix the next morning) ;) and Fathers day is a few days away but I wanted to go ahead and post my dads card.

I know it seems wierd to have used the Afternoon Tea Designer paper for my fathers card but it just seemed to fit and I liked it. Plus I've been just dying to use it! :)
I used Wild Wasabi for the cardbase and Afternoon Tea DP for the background. I cut it just a little bit smaller than the card base just to cover most of it. I stamped the image with Stazon and watercolored it with Stampin' Up markers and aquapainter then I cut out the image then popped it up with dimensionals. The photo corners are chipboard covered with Afternoon Tea DP and filed on the edges to give it a worn look. Silver brads finish off the look.

These are for my sister to use as she wishes. She is getting married in a month and so I know she'll need thank you notes and such. I do realize that 10 notecards won't get her very far but she can use them for some of or favorite people, like me... ;)

I used Papertrey white paper for the base since its thicker. The embosed rectangle is the largest of the large nestibilitie scalloped edge rectangle set. The smaller rectangle, river rock, is cut out using the next size down nestie and it is also embossed.

I stamped the flower and the round flower from Together Forever with whisper white craft ink. The E is from Lovely Letters and is stamped in Bashful Blue on whisper white paper. I punched it out with a 1 1/4" circle punch and punched out a Bashful Blue circle in 1 3/8" circle punch. They are popped up with dimensionals.

I'm giving her a mixture of both styles but I can't decide which I like best.

At my last hostess club with my upline we made these cute little scrapbooks using the white lunch sacks and a retired scrapbook kit of hers. She just let us go at it and didn't give us layouts or anything, just let our imagination soar! :)

Apples and sunshine

I just LOVE this stamp set!!! It's called "For Father" from Stampin' Up! I used my Stampin' Up! markers and an aqua painter and water colored on water color paper. I then cut out the image. The card base is River rock. I cut the blue bayou a quarter of an inch smaller than the card base and ran it through my cuttle bug with the dots background. I used my cricut for my circles but that could easily be recreated with a coluzzle or other circle cutting device. The large river rock circle is 3 1/2" and the smaller soft sky textured cardstock is 3". The image is popped up with dimensionals. I roughed up the edges of both circles and sponged with coordinating ink. River rock for the river rock card stock and blue bayou on the soft sky card stock. I used night of navy for the dots on the river rock circle and a white gel pen for the dots on the soft sky circle.

I stamped 'Your Day' from Celebrate Everything on river rock CS with Blue Bayou and punched that out with my 1" square punch. Using the square frame from the hodgepodge hardware in the occasions mini catalog I wrapped twine around the blue bayou and tied. I did use glue dots to keep it in place.

That about covers it. :)

A pear for you.

This stamp set is from the hostess section, level II from Stampin' Up! I chose this one because I already have the other one and I wasn't really sure about it but I think I'll like it. :) I stamped the pear in versermark and then in chocolate chip and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I masked two pears behind it and embossed those as well. This was done on SU! watercolor paper. I watercolored with the SU! markers and an auqua painter. I used apricot appeal and more mustard. I cut out the 3 pears and embossed the entire full pear by itself. I used very vanilla and stamped the three pears the same way and colored it in with apricot appeal solid. I used one thickness of stampin' up! dimensional under the 2 side pears and two thickness for the middle pear.

I used more mustard and chocolate chip to mat the pears. I popped up the more mustard from the chocolate chip with dimensionals. I used chocolate chip and stamped the leaves randomly on apricot appeal. i wrapped the chocolate chip 5/8" grossgrain ribbon around the whole thing and thread it through the two slots I made and tied it.

Pretty simple but I like how it turned out. :)

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

This is my dad's birthday card. His birthday was Sunday, April 27th. He liked it I think. :) When my sister and I were young, we all got him a chocolate lab puppy for his birthday and when she started whining in the guest bathroom my sister and I started singing christmas carols really loud! It's a very fond memory!

OK now on to the card. :) I used stazon to stamp the image from For Father, which is out of the occassions mini catalog. I used THIS tutorial off of Julie's blog for watercoloring with Stampin' Up! markers. It really does work like a charm!

I used THIS tutorial from Gina K's blog for the wood background. Granted.. hers looks much better than mine but that just means I need to practice more. ;)

Celebrate today and Embrace Life

YAY I finally got a good picture! :) I used designer paper from Bali Breeze, I cut it to 8 1/2 x 11 and folded it in half. Then folded to opposite corners in to the center fold and refolded the center fold. Then I folded it again in half. Clear as mud? :)

I stamped Celebrate in basic black and then again in versermark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I used my black SU! marker and dotted along the triangle there. I opened up that flap and put three black brads from SU!. The 2 ovals are cut out with my cricut but could easily be done with a coluzzle set. The black oval is 4" and the white is 3 1/2. I stamped the roses first then masked the flowerets behind it. I colored those in with certainly celery and old olive. The roses are colored in with pretty in pink, Regal Rose and rose red. Today is stamped on shimmery white and the word 'Today' is stamped with Rose Red. I used my white gel pen for the dots around the frame.

Here is the close up of the flowers. It's hard to see them but they are embossed.

Green roses???

Ok I'm really not sure I've ever seen green roses but I wanted to go with the monochrome look with all green shades. I've had the idea for diaginal prints for a while and haven't put it on paper until now. I like it. I think it could use some tweaking but in general I like how it turned out.

I used wild wasabi for the cardbase. I used the wild wasabi from the print pack that is in the hostess I benefits. I really like the prints and wish they would offer more in more colors! The stamped roses are from Embrace life and the sentiment is from For Father out of the mini catalog. Both GREAT sets! Sorry that the sentiment isn't straight. I didn't use a stamp-a-ma-jig.

I stamped the flowers on whisper white in black and used a blender pen and my wild wasabi ink pad to water color it in. I kept coloring the outside petals to get them darker. I think in real life it'd be the other way around... the inside petals dark and the outside petals light.

The ribbon is wild wasabi double stitched ribbon and the layer is Creamy caramel. I think next time I would use dimensionals to pop up the oval some but this card is nice and flat and would mail easily. Also I think textured card base would be really pretty and give it some dimension.

OH yes, the ovals are cut out using my cricut but would easily be duplicated with a coluzzle.

The diaginal panals are 1 1/2 inches each, even the corner is 1 1/2 inches from the corner to the edge. As you can see the bottom piece didn't quite go all the way across but I kinda like it cut off, it wasn't my original intent. :) The creamy caramel oval is 4 inches and the white is 3 1/2 inches.

Fruity pocket card

I just REALLY love this Tart & Tangy set from the Occassions mini catalog.
This was for a technique challenge on Splitcoast. Here is the challenge.

I used Summer Picnic Designer series paper. On the back pocket I layered real red on Ruby red. Then whisper white on top of that. The scallop is real red and layered with Old Olive. I used my markers, Real Red, Old Olive and chocolate chip, to color in my frut. I punched out the fruit with 1 3/8" circle punch. The Old Olive with 1 1/4" circle punch. The front pocket has real red layered with ruby red then whisper white. Same goes for the scallop and punches. The front panel is old olive layered with real red. I wrapped it with bashful blue striped grosgrain ribbon. The apple is punched out with a 1 3/8" circle punch, bashful blue with the 1 1/4" circle punch and the scallop in old olive.

I stamped "Happy Birthday" with basic black from Sassy Suzie set. The front pocket says "did someone turn up the heat in here..." and the back pocket says "Or is it just the candles on your cate?" then "Happy birthday!"

That is one of my FAVORITE lines out of a movie. I know it's not a new line but Matt Damon said it in Good Will Hunting when he got the girls number. It just makes me giggle everytime I see it. It doesn't hurt that Matt Damon is a hottie of all degrees!! Wowzer!

I thought I would post a summery card since today marks the first day I turned on my air conditioner. *sigh*

OK ... on to the card. :)

I used Ruby Red for the card base. I used Summer Picnic designer paper obviously with the apples. :) I like apples. On a silver ringed tab, a large one, I stamped the apple from Tart & Tangy with real red and chocolate chip and masked it a couple times behind it. I punched a hole with my crop-a-dile to tie the Real Red striped wide grosgrain ribbon. The sentiment is from It's Your Birthday in Basic Black.

This challenge was for paper piecing. I stamped my image on whisper white then stamped her again on designer paper and cut out the pants and shirt to glue onto the white stamped image. I colored in her hair and skin and lips and table. I used certainly celery for the card base. I stamped the flower from Time Well Spent with Certainly Celery. I framed the image with Rose Red and stamped the sentiment in Basic Black.

OK So I know her name is Sally! hahaha. This was for the Blue Jean challenge. We had to use different shades of blues and neutrals and try to add a texture. I used Soft Sky for the card base, Blue bayou textured and smooth cardstock for the top and bottom layer respectfully. I laid soft sky stitched ribbon across the seam and tied a bow to attach. I colored in Sassy Sally with Blue Bayou, tempting turquous, brilliant blue and gray on whipser white. I bordered her in soft sky and used dimensionals to pop her up. I stamped the sentiment in basic black.

Seashell masculine card

This was for the 'sharp dressed man' challenge. The challenge was to make a masculine card. I used chocolate chip for the card base, mellow moss for the strip and very vanilla. I stamped the seashell from Seaside in Chocolate chip craft ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I watercolored it in with creamy caramel, chocolate chip and mellow moss. I stamped the phrase "you're absolutetly fabulous" In mellow moss from the stamp set absolutetly fabulous. I used copper brads down the side. The ribbon is chocolate chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon and mellow moss 1/4" grosgrain ribbon folded and stapled.

I had written all this out ready to go and hit 'post' and it gave me a huge error message. *sigh* So here goes take two!

Virtual Stamping night at Splitcoast was a huge success!! I was only able to participate in 10 out of 19 challenges but that' is ok. I still learned a lot and got to do a lot of new things.

I have a lot of cards to post and I will post them daily and eventually will get them all posted. :)

Sketch artist

This challenge was to use a sketch type stamp. I used Year after Year and used the elephant to make a baby card.

I used blush blossom for the card base to make a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card. I cut a piece of green galore a hair smaller to leave a small border of blush blossom. The two pink strips are pixie pink and are about 2" in width. I used See You Around jumbo wheel with versamark ink on them. I punched out two scallops in green galore and cut them in half. I used my white gel pen for the dots around. I stamped the elephant in basic black and watercolored her in with blush blossom, pixie pink and green galore as well as basic gray for the wheels. I framed her in blush blossom and attached the green galore scallops. I popped them up with dimensionals onto the card.

I stamped "I just heard" and "congrats on your big news" in basic black from the Absolutetly Fabulous stamp set.

I cased this from Stampin' Up!'s showcase webpage. I used River Rock for the base, on Whisper White I stamped the flower from sprinkles randomly and colored in with blush blossom and Mellow Moss. I layered river rock and groovy guava for the band and the squares. I stamped the K from Lovely Letters and used the cracked glass method HERE with that little square. The ribbon is Mellow Moss tafata ribbon.

I wanted to use this idea of 3 panes but accidently made it too long for a regular sized card. SO... what do I do? change the card size. :) I lengthened it to fit in a legal size envelope and added the 'medalion' on the end.

The flower is pick a petal. I used 2 colors from soft subtles for the petals, pale plum and pretty in pink the other color is purely pomegranate. I used barely banana and apricot appeal for the center. The card base is purely pomegranate as well. I stamped the 'happy' stamp from define your life in purely pomegranate. I framed the panes with basic gray. Since it was too long I stamped the birthday stamp from so many scallops using purely pomegranate for the flower and candles, yo-yo yellow for the flames and basic gray for the words. I punched it out using my scalloped punch then layered it on pretty in pink paper. I used my cricut to cut it out the right size.

I wrapped purely pomegranate stitched ribbon all the way around so you can see it on the inside as well. I tied it in a knot then using a dimensional I attached the medallion so that it looks like it is hanging from ribbon.

I LOVE this stamp set. It took a few examples for me to get on board with it. It doesn't show well in the catalog at all!

I used Certainly Celery for the cardbase. I used the little flowers stamp in versamark for the background. I stamped the vine on whisper white with Chocolate chip and colored in the leaves with Certainly Celery. On Whisper white I stamped the flower in Rose red and colored it in. Then I cut it out. I covered the whole flower in versamark and embossed it twice. The main image is framed in Apricot Appeal. The ribbon is Certainly Celery 5/8" grossgrain ribbon tied around the whole front. "Embrace Life" is stamped in Chocolate Chip.

For Bikinis! No I will not be doning any of these anytime soon but it doesn't mean I can't create one! :) I used THIS tutorial on StampOwl's blog for the panty card on Blush Blossom. I took Whisper White cardstock and randomly stamped a pattern using Spring Solitude (A hostess Set) in different Soft Subtles colors. I then cut that out with the template and tape on the card. I used a shiney ribbon I found at Micheals, primas and stamped the bird on the back in perfect plum. Pretty simple card with a great affect! :)

Split personality??

I did this card for THIS challenge on Splitcoaststampers. It is a Split Negative image. The tutorial for this can be found HERE. This is the first time I've tried this and I had a hard time with colors but went to THIS webpage to find a good color combo because I wanted to use Blue Bayou. I dyed whisper white 1/4" grossgrain ribbon with blue bayou reinker but it didn't turn out quite the color I wanted. Looks like I'll need to invest in more ribbon. :)

So using that webpage and knowing what the challenge was here is my recipe. :)

I traded a stamp set of mine for Pick A Petal. I love this set!

Recipe:

Paper: Only Orange, Yo-Yo Yellow, Whisper White

Stamps: Pick A Petal, Friendship Blooms (SAB 2008)

Ink: Real Red, Yo-Yo Yellow, Craft White, Versamark, Basic Black

Techniques: Rock N Roll, Masking

I stamped the petals in Real Red, I masked that and stamped the solid petal with Yo-Yo Yellow. I stamped the double lined circle in Only Orange, then the solid stamp in Yo-Yo Yellow then rock n rolled with Only Orange. I punched those out and taped together. I used a pop-up to attach it to the flower. I cut out the flower. I tore a piece of Yo-Yo Yellow around the corner and attached the flower.

I stamped the 3 flower from Friendship Blooms with white craft ink. I also stamped the swirls from Friendship Blooms in versamark but you can't see that on the picture. The sentiment is stmamped in Basic Black.

I've been busy!

My sister has been sick so I made and sent her this card. She hasn't gotten it yet so *sshhhhh*

I used Tempting Turqouise for the cardbase. Then layered River Rock stamped with linen background stamp in Tempting Turqouise. I roughed up the edges and sponged with TT. I stamped the whale on Very Vanilla using my Pun Fun Stampin up stamp set in basic gray. I colored with basic gray, Tempting Turquois and Cool Caribbean. I wrapped a silver cord around and tied it in the back.

it was a very simple card but it turned out very cool looking in person. :)

My mom had some sad news of friends passing away. These are my least favorite kind of cards to make!

For this card I used Soft Sky CS for the base layered with Fall flowers DP, Old Olive and stamped on Very Vanilla the flower from Year After Year. Colored the flower in with Blush Blossom and Old Olive. The bottom is a 1 1/4" strip that I tore. I used gunmetal brads on the ends and very vanilla in the center for the words from So Many sayings. I sponged basic gray around it. The ribbon is creme organdy ribbon is from SU.

This is for my demo who lent me her stamps. :) It's a similar design as before but with flowers and brads on the ends of the bottom. I used Bashful blue for the card base, Cutie Pie DP, Certainly Celery and very vanilla to stamp my sheep from Pun Fun. I colored him in with Basic gray and Rose Red. The bottom strip is popped up with pop up dots! :) I punched out the flowers with a retired SU punch. I don't know the name of it.

Happy Wedding

My sister just got engaged and she asked me to make cards to formally invite her friends to be bridesmaids. I used papertrey white for the cardbase, Bashful Blue, and shimmery white. I chose the Bashful blue because that is the color she is using for her wedding. Baroque Motifs and Year After Year are the stamps I used. I water colored the cake using the lids from my stamp pad from bashful blue, basic gray and rose red. The ribbon is from Michaels and matched perfectly! :) I embossed the background stamp for baroque motifs but the rest is not embossed. I touch of stickles on the heart turned it redder then I meant for it to be.

This is a card I made for a baby swap. The swaped cards are being donated to a local pregnancy center.

I used papertrey white for the base of the card. Bashful blue in a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 (a little smaller) for the background. The designer paper is from Cutie pie and its cut in a 3 3/4 x 5 size. The Hippo is from Pun Fun and I stamped it on shimmery white. I cut it out 3x3 and tore it along the two edges. So saffron behind that is cut at 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 and torn on the two edges. I cut out Rose red on my cricut with a 2 1/2" oval and a 2" oval in shimmery white. I used warm words for the sentiment. I tied the organdy ribbon and used a glue dot to secure it in place. It was a fairly simple card to make but turned out really cute.

Snowy Tri-Fold

This is for a challenge with my hostess club. We were challenged to use scraps. I pulled out all of my wild wasabi and purely pomegranate scraps and cut them in 1/2 inch strips for the basket weaves. Yes I weaved that myself. ;)
Sorry for the bad picture.

The woven is 5 strips of purely pomegranate of 4" length and 7 strips of wild wasabi at 3 inches. I wove them together and trimmed it to 4" by 2 1/2" I framed it with going grey. I embossed the same size piece of wild wasabi with my snowflake cuttlebug folder. The center is a 3"x3" square glossy cardstock. I stamped the big snowflake from Stampin Up Snow Burst with versermark and used a snowflake white embossing powder I bought at Michaels and embossed it. I then stamped two different smaller snowflakes with wild wasabi and purely pom. I framed it with wild wasabi. I hope you enjoyed!

We made this at a stamp party. I can't take credit for the layout. I really love the looks of this that I think I'm going to make some for my own Christmas cards. :)

We used Very Vanilla as the card base. The designer paper from Stampin Up called Cerice. Real Red cardstock for the band. The basic black is punched out with the 1" square punch then that's centered in the 1 1/4" square punch for the belt buckle. The Merry Christmas is from Holidays and Wishes

This is for THIS card sketch on SCS. It's a great sketch but I couldn't figure out what to use to cover up the change in cardstock so I pulled out this great ribbon that I have with beads on it. It's beautiful in person.

I used wild wasabi and purely pomegranate. The wild wasabi is dry embossed with the snowflake folder with my cuttlebug. I colored in the image with markers and the snowman is covered with crystal effects. He looks beautiful in person. :)

So Halloween is over and the holiday season has officially begun! I always look forward to this time of the year. The colors, the smells, the foods, the crafts! I haven't started on Christmas cards yet, but I intend on soon.

I was walking through Kohl's today and they had so many candles out and I could smell them all. It totally made me want to come home and decorate my house for Christmas but it isn't quite time yet.

I just wanted to put a post up and let all my readers know that I'm still alive and kicking. I'll get some crafts done soon. :)

I'm making a collection of monogramed stationary. First off I used this layout from Splitcoast HERE. I used two background stamps. Linen BG in creamy caramel and See you Around wheel in marigold. I used barely banana on the back and certainly celery for the front. Not quite navy is the base of the card and the layered for the "K". I sponged Cool Caribbean around the white and stamped the K in black. I used glue to apply glitter on the K. The ribbon is So Saffron. Silver brads finish off the card.

So today started off a little rough. I couldn't get myself up out of bed and am not feeling well. BUT I did hear some great news that Stampin Up has changed their Angel policy which I am thrilled with!

We had a challenge in our hostess club to do masking. I chose Moose You to make a fall card for this. I used plaid background in marigold morning on So Saffrin paper. The background is the actual card so I cut the so saffron 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. I used Purely Pomegranate as the framing background. Then used Whisper white for the image. I stamped the porcupine first in Chocolate Chip. Then stamped it again on a piece of post-it note and cut it out. I didn't cut out the stickers on him just his body. I then stamped the Moose in Creamy Caramel and the Deer in Close to Cocoa. I used just a scrap piece of paper to mask out the words below the animals. I used Purely Pom and Marigold Morning for the flowers and Always artichoke for the stems and grass. I then roughed the edges and sponged around the sides and top with Creamy Caramel and around the bottom with Always Artichoke. Friendship is stamped with Purely Pomegranate.

WOW 10 days!

I can't believe it's been 10 days since I've updated! A lot has been going on with me which actually includes making a pack of cards for a friend of mine as a wedding gift. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of them! Ugh!! I could kick myself for that!

This was a package I made for my hostess club group for such a successful month last month.

I used wild wasabi and linen background stamp. Then cut out the stamp from True Friend and popped up another cut out stamp from True Friend. The Thank You stamp is from True Friend as well. I tied whisper white grossgrain around it. The pens are R.S.V.P pens that I stamped a piece of whisper white with purely pomegranate and wrapped inside. Taped a cut out stamp and tied whisper white grossgrain around it as well. :)

I know that is a very vague description and I'm sorry for that. I'll put up detailed instructions in the next day or two. :)

More Autumn masking fun!

I love masking. There is so much you can do with it to create scenes. While cleaning out my stamp room yesterday I found this designer paper that I had bought eons ago and can't even remember where or when. It's hard to see in real life but the desinger paper is thin and you can see the fibers. It's also sort of shimery.

For this card I used Autumn Harvest and masked the pumpkin while putting leaves and gourds behind it. I colored in using markers and my white gel pen. There is stickles randomly on the items. The angled piece behind the main image is ticket punched with leaves stamped on the corners and colored in with my blender pen and the lids of the stamp pads. I used a corner decorative punch I got from Michaels and cut out the corner part. Both the background and the image white pieces are stamped with the background stamp Linen in Creamy caramel. IRL it turned out perfectly. This is one of those cards that I will not be able to let go of, especially since I only had one small piece of that designer paper.

I then stamped Always artichoke with linen background. I roughed up the edges. I used Pumpkin Pie layer under the main image. The image is colored in with markers of all colors. The brads and ribbon are from Targets $1 spot. It's hard to see but the pirate has a glass eye.

Fall sketch

I did the card sketch from yesterday on SCS. I REALLY like this sketch. There are tons of possibilities possible.

I used papertrey white as my card base and around the outside I stamped the leaves from autumn harvest in chocolate chip. I then colored in the leaves and used my white gel pen to accent. for the large back layer I used chocolate chip cardstock and stamped the acorns in chocolate chip. I used Marigold morning cardstock for the strip and stamped the leaves again using creamy caramel. The pumpkin pie is directly behind the image with square brads on each side. The image is on whisper white framed by chocolate chip. I used both the large and small pumpkin as well as the leaves using the masking technique. The pumpkins are stamped using pumpkin pie, then colored in with water colored pencils and my white gel pen for detail. The leaves are chocolate chip and purely pomegranate. Hemp twine and a silver clip on the corner finish it off. I LOVE this stamp set!

Snow Burst Flurries

This card is a tad out of my element but I enjoyed making it!

For the main cardbase I used Blue Bayou. I cut a piece of sage shadow about 1/8" smaller on each side and stamped random snowflake stamps from Snow Burst with white craft (pigmant) ink. I took a piece of gray cardstock cut in a triangle and then chopped the two corners off leaving the top peak. I cut a piece of vellum 2 1/2 by 3 1/2. I ran both of those (the gray and vellum) through my snowflake cuttlebug folder and ran a brayer over both with white craft ink and heat embossed using clear embossing powder. I layered it as you see, wrapped SU white organdy ribbon around both the gray and vellum. The 'Merry Christmas' is from the stamp set All-year Cheer III and it is stamped in Blue Bayou ink. I roughed the edges of the sage shadow and sponged blue bayou ink around it.

To make the box.

1. Cut cardstock 3"x6" Decorate as desired, wait to put dimensional decorations until put together.

3. Mark on the 3" length at 1 1/2 (half way), on both sides. Score diagonally from the 1/2 way point of the 3" length to the score line made at 3".

3. punch holes on each corner, I used the 1/8th" hole punch on my cropadile.

4. Fold the corners in to give a crease

5. As shown, pull ribbon through from the outside in hole 1, then from the outside of hole 2. Now is the best time to pop that treat in the box, then bring the ribbon through from the inside of hole 3 and from the inside of hole 4. Pull tight and tie.

6. Add any dimensional additions wanted.

On my example. I used wild wasabi cardstock and rolled Woodcut Holly Jumbo wheel in wild wasabi. Using household bleach and a small paintbrush I then outlined a few of the holly leaves to give it dimension. I used a blender pen and the lid of my purely pomegranate ink pad to color in the berries, they showed up nicely! I then added a tad of stickles to each berry.

For the ribbon. I used THIS method for dying my ribbon Purely Pomegranate.

Limited Layers Challenge

Todays challenge over at SCS was to limit your layers to 4-5. I didn't really have a problem with it since I tend to use very few layers as it is.

I started off with my papertrey white cardstock as the card base. I used Purely Pomegranate and the wheel See You Around to make the background. I cut a piece of purely pomegranate cardstock and folded it on the top. I scalloped both the top and the bottom. I then layered behind it with So Saffron also scalloping the end to keep that 'round' look. I used my new hostess set 'In The Spotlight' and stamped the flowers with Purely Pomegranate and the stems and leaves in Wild Wasabi. I then stamped the center of the flowers in wild wasabi and cut them out. I used my white gel pen to add a little accent around the purely pomegranate cardstock and flowers. I tiny bit of stickles on the leaves and white ribbon accent. I hope you enjoyed!

Criss-Cross cards

I bought the snowflake cuttle bug embossing folder today. I LOVE it!!! I also just recently bought a beautiful snowflake stamp set that I'd been dying to use and I think I found a great way!

Because of a challenge on Splitcoast, I wanted to try the criss-cross card. I embossed on a gray cardstock that I bought at the LSS. I then brayered white craft ink on the raised side and heat embossed with a Kaleidoscope embossing powder.

For the outside around the band, I put two layers of white Stampin Up grossgrain ribbon. I punched out a circle and stamped one of the snowflakes on it in wild wasabi then using the smaller snowflakes I stamped around the edges using wild wasabi, purely pomegranate and blue bayou, then used a scallop and punched out a larger circle for a layer in wild wasabi. It's hard to see in the picture but a little clear stickles accenting the snowflakes finishes the outside.

For the insert. I used Purely Pomegranate as the main piece then on the neutral piece I stamped the two same snowflakes in the right corners in purely pomegranate. I stamped 'Merry Christmas' from the set All-Year Cheer III in purely pomegranate. I used the same technique as the outside with the smaller circle and the scalloped circle but on a smaller scale. I stamped the snowflake in wild wasabi and edged the circle with wild wasabi.

Not much of a creating day..

BUT I have spent most of the day fulfilling some image wishes over at SCS. It's a fun feeling of fulfillment when you can take 10 envies to the post office that you know are going to put a smile on someones face. I also finished 2 swaps and got them ready to mail out tomorrow as well. Kinda stinks that the only time I'll have to mail those off will be during lunch. Talk about long lines!!

I'll admit... I did create one card but it ended up being one of the ugliest cards I've ever made so I am not going to post it here. *LOL*

Halloween is drawing near

I have a couple of halloween cards I'd like to share today. These are for some swaps over on SCS.

Sweeter Treaters

I cuttlebugged elegant eggplant for the bacground, punched out a 2" circle in pumpkin pie using a marvy punch and used a corner rounder on garden green to layer under my sweeter treater. You can't see it in the picture but there is glitter on the pumpkin smile and the caramel apple is heat embossed using a cranberry color on the apple and clear on the caramel after coloring it with a light brown. The kid is watercolored with watercolor pencils. I used brads and orange ribbon to add some accessories.

Halloween ATC

This is an artist trading card. Which is a 2.5" x 3.5" card the size of a baseball card. This particular card is a tri-fold artist trading card. The overall size is still 2.5x3.5 but it opens up.

FRONT: I used the SU designer paper Creepy Crawly for the background on both panels. I used a 2" marvy punch and punched out my booglie eye on very vanilla and colored him in. I traced an outline from a top on a can on the pumpkin pie to make it larger than my booglie eyes. It's probably ~3" diameter. I then punched out a smaller circle in the center of that. I took my slit punch and went around the circle making a scalloped circle that would fit on the card. That was my first time doing that and it turned out nicely and such an easy way to get a scalloped circle! I used my scissors to roughen up the edges of my booglie eyes and sponged pumpkin pie ink around the edges. You can't see it in the picture but there is a bit of glitter glue on my mummy to give a bit of sparkle. I put brads on each corner. I used pop up dimensionals on the right side under the image and used round velcro to hold it down.

INSIDE: You can see there on the right under the orange scalloped circle where the velcro is. I also covered up the cut out part with more of the creepy crawly DP. Also using the same DP paper I covered the outside panels and the center. I then layered very vanilla on the DP and stamped "Happy Halloween" in pumpkin pie using All year cheer III.

Overall I ended up using 3 different patterns from the creepy crawly designer paper. I REALLY enjoyed making ATC's!

SCS card sketch 9-12-07
The first one is for the SCS card sketch challenge from 9-12-07.

This is made with the Stampin' Up designer paper 'Creepy Crawly' and a leftover piece of 'smashed' paper in another challenge. I took Chocolate chip paper, used the leaves in Watercolor Garden and stamped a background using chocolate chip ink. I then put it through my cuddlebug to give it dimension. I layered the Creepy Crawly DP on pumpkin pie cardstock and put an orange organdy ribbon between the two panels that I bought from Ribbons and Bows, Oh My online. The main image is layered on chocolate chip card stock and the 'Happy Thanksgiving' from the set All-Year Cheer III is stamped on with chocolate chip ink. I hope you enjoyed!

Happy Grandparents Day!
This card I made for my grandmother for Grandparents day. She really liked it even though it was a pretty quick creation.

I used a designer paper that I bought from Michael's, Stampin' Ups Garden Green and Regal Rose, Papertrey white. The stamps are The Angel Company's Oopsie Daisy colored in with watercolor pencils and Stampin' Up Curvy Verses that says "You are a wonderful reason to celebrate!" I then scoured the edges of the green and white for a little texture added craft glue and glitter throughout the main image for a little pizazze. A few brads, silver clip and white Stampin Up organdy ribbon finish off this card. I hope you enjoyed!

Money holder tutorial

This is super duper easy to make! My mom came to me and said do you think you can make a money holder? I said "SURE! I can figure it out" I looked online and tried to find one but didn't find one I liked really so I used what the banks give when giving back money as inspiration.

Take a sheet of double sided paper 7"x7 3/4"

On the 7 3/4" side, Score at 3" and 6" as shown.

Randomly cut out part of both sides

Using sticky tape, tape along the back

Fold down the long 3" side

Put sticky red tape on the bottom of the short flap

Fold over to make your money holder

Decorate to your desire!

Surgery recovery

I had my gallbladder removed Thursday. I have heard so many people say 'oh recovery from that is no big deal' 'you should be back to work by Tuesday'. Uhmm....... NO! I'm still sick and hurt and miserable! :( Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Problem card

What to do what to do. Today I'm going to play with this card and either fix it or start over. Here is the original:

There have been many suggestions from adding ribbon to changing the sentiment background to changing the card background to leaving it alone. I've got a few ideas in my head that I'm going to play with.

The blue icing is important but I really needed cool caribbean for the layered piece and didn't have anymore. Maybe I can find a scrap or two! :) Stay tuned for updated pictures.

SO I finally decided to join the rest of the world. I resisted for so long but decided, hey! It's about time. ;)

My name is Krista and I live in Alabama. I discovered stamping about 7 months ago because of my sister but I really got into it about 5 months ago! I work as an engineer in Montgomery and own a home based business. I bake dog cookies and make notecards, mini scrapbooks and just added coaster tiles for unfortunately a small group. I'd love to expand my business but right now I basically appeal to the greyhound world.

Speaking of greyhounds... I have one greyhound, Kip. He's 5 years old, and a complete goofball that I love more than anything!! He has more personality than most people I've known have in their pinky! It's unbelievable how dynamic he is.

Well I suppose I'll leave it for tonight. :)
